Pointers for Perfecting your Golf Swing

 

Starting a backswing is really what you want to happen well, if you desire to take a good shot. In lesson 1, you would have learnt how to start the backswing. Now, you would learn what you need to do when the club is in the air.

With the club in the air, it is time for you to get your body positioning right so that you could take a good shot. Unfortunately, a lot of people get into the habit of swinging their bodies rather than swinging their clubs thinking that this could give them a lot of power and energy on their strokes. Try and stay clear of this bad habit, mainly because the chances of you striking your ball with optimum energy and power, will be reduced greatly.

A lot of people think that the body must be loose while taking a shot. This is true, but when you are in the process of backswing, your body should be as tight as possible.

Let’s start with the legs. It is very important to keep your back knee bent throughout your whole backswing. Shift your entire bodyweight on your back foot. This action will most likely cause you front foot to raise off the ground. Raising your foot slightly above the ground level is an acceptable practice, if professional golfers are to be believed. This will come with a bit of a risk - If you end up lifting your foot too much there's a good chance you'll end up losing your balance. So keep that in mind. Your hips should be twisted little and your shoulders at an angle of around 90o, also your left shoulder should generally be under the chin. Make sure you keep your left arm straight, while keeping your right arm folded.

When you are the top of your backswing, you should feel that you have maximum strength and force in you. Your body should possess so much energy that it should send the ball to the desired distance when you hit it.

Practice is the only way you could improve your backswing and get it to the level of professional golfers. So, if you wish to have the best backswing, it is time for you to hit the ground hard and start practicing. Now, to do this, you don’t have to go anywhere, because you can practice even in front of the mirror in your home. Better still – Call your friend who knows how to play golf and ask him to correct your mistakes.

Bottom-line – To get the perfect backswing, you don’t need to do complicated things.
